 Wondering what chocolate treat Bill got for Valentine's Day? I decided on a recipe that was handed down to me from a sweet southern lady, Agnes. She is home with the Lord now, but our memories of her are very special. The recipe is below. I don't know who Edith is, but she makes a rich, fudgy, chocolate cake. If you try it, you will like it!

Loving chocolate?

 Valentine's Day is fast approaching. I say "fast" because apparently I haven't posted in 6 days and I have no clue where that time went, so I'm fairly certain the next 6 days will be here in a blink, too.
Anyway, I'm checking out the cookbooks for some treats to make. I have acquired a few chocolate only books, because my husband loves chocolate. (Just to let you know, I like to hold love to a high standard and don't usually go around saying "I love your drapes" or "I love your hat" because do we really love those things? or do we love the Lord, our family, our friends? OK, there are degrees of love, I know, but I like to check myself now and then.) Having revealed that, I can still say Bill. loves. chocolate. It's on the list right after friends for him. :-) So I would LOVE to make him something special.

 Thought I'd share some tips about chocolate in case you're interested. I could have written them for you, but I think this is readable.

Special Day

It's Ground Hog's day and the little guy did not see his shadow. That's good news to a blueberry farmer, but that's not why this day is important to our family. Sixty-five years ago on February 2nd my grandparents were married. Now that's special! Since then we have been making five generations of memories.

That's a Hoot

I found this while organizing the computer paper drawer. My mom had given it to me some time ago. She is always using her computer creatively and passing on the fun, so I finally thought I would try something to amuse our grandson. He likes owls and there are cute designs all over the internet. I simply copied one into my pictures and then printed it onto the Cling Art vinyl like it was paper. Then cut it out and peel off the backing.

Here he is resting on the bar of their front door side light. There's another one wide awake on the other side. They turned out cute and our grandson noticed them right away and began hooting.
A few tips for future use, however, are 1. be sure to change the paper to "glossy" or else the printer will slide down the lower half of his body too fast. Since he still looked a little feathery I couldn't throw him in the garbage and try again. 2. The vinyl sticks quite well after several placements, but if the child has any moisture on his hands the ink begins to smere. Hmmm...not sure if it's my ink problem (normal that I know of) or a problem with the vinyl. Anyway, until I figure that one out it's just look for now. Mommy can fly him to other windows.
