A Deer and Dear Gathering

Much to our pleasure we have had deer gathering in our yard and around the house lately. They usually walk across the back of the property, but I think we have some delicious weeds that drew them in closer. We have enjoyed watching them and even seen them playing or fighting-not sure which, but it involved rearing up on hind legs at each other. Quite exciting!

The poinsettia bloomed for the first time this year and I had to take a picture, but what would make it even better is our other dears around it. Love these pictures!!

Garden Changes

I decided to rip out the old boxes in the garden and hopefully will replace them in the spring with some brick boxes that won't deteriorate through the years. In the meantime my helpers were here and planted some peas for winter. They love to keep busy and especially anything to do with gardening.

No one minds getting their hands dirty.

I'm not sure how little one had one shoe on and one shoe off, but apparently, she likes her feet dirty, too.

They had fun with their uncle today and I did manage to get them to sit still for a picture.

Vacation Fun

Where do we go for relaxation, recreation, fun family time, and great food? The lake, of course.
Kiddos had a good time!

 Ready for a boat ride.

 Lots of beach time.

QTPie spent most of her time in the water.

Visiting Great, Great Grandma and Grandpa.

Why walk when you can get a ride?!

Chatting with whoever is in the hallway. Everyone enjoyed seeing the kids and getting hugs and kisses.

Thanks, Mom & Dad, Grandma & Grandpa, for your hospitality. Love and miss you!

Blackberries or Raspberries

Picking blackberries can be very frustrating for children. Unripe ones look just like delicious raspberries, but one accidental pick and they learn how sour they are.
AJ & QTpie are getting the hang of it, but Blues Eyes still gets reprimanded by her siblings.
If that isn't frustrating enough we planted raspberries in the same patch.
Just wait until those are fruiting!

Blueberries in the Freezer

This is a sight a blueberry farmer doesn't like to see. Bushes drooped over from the weight of the ice, branches broken off and way too much water on the field after 11 hours of irrigation.
We, however, had no gliches in power or well function and our weather station kept us on top of the conditions. What's more important, though, is knowing our family and friends were praying for us and our Father cares for us and has it all under control no matter what the outcome.
I might add that none of this happens without a husband with real farmer genes that willingly waits for the alarm, suits up for the cold and then patrols the raining field for a sprinkler not doing it's job.
This may or may not include unclogging a frog with a wire while his guts are spraying all over him in freezing weather. Then he catches a few winks and does it again around 4:30 am to make sure all is going well.
You know what, I changed my mind. These pictures are a beautiful sight. Thankyou, Lord, and thankyou, my farmer man, for saving our crop.
